Welcome to the website of the European School of Strasbourg

"Educated side by side, untroubled from infancy by divisive prejudices, acquainted with all that is great and good in the different cultures, it will be borne in upon them as they mature that they belong together. Without ceasing to look to their own lands with love and pride, they will become in mind Europeans, schooled and ready to complete and consolidate the work of their fathers before them, to bring into being a united and thriving Europe."

A few words from the director about the European School

Daniel Gassner« Teaching in the European Schools: Innovative and Ambitious Pedagogy

The European School of Strasbourg offers instruction in accordance with the pedagogy of the European Schools. Rooted in the experience of more than 60 years, the schools’ programme is conceived as a continuum, from the nursery school all the way through the European Baccalaureate. They are imbued with the values of the founders of the European Union, and serve, as Jean Monnet hoped, to bring children of different ages, origins, and cultures together in the spirit of Europeans.

As the cornerstone of our future school building is laid, our school already embodies this spirit: it is present in the 830 pupils of more than 50 different nationalities who study every day in its three language sections (English, French, and German). It is also present in its 80 teachers, who, rooted in their own linguistic and cultural diversity, are passionately committed to an educational model founded on the spirit of tolerance and cooperation. Accepting all children for themselves, investing themselves in their capacity to achieve, and offering them a wide array of multicultural and multilingual teaching—these are the key principles that define the school’s spirit.

The joint efforts of the City of Strasbourg and the entire array of partners engaged in this project are making possible a school campus that will incarnate the spirit of the school and give physical existence to its pedagogical project. We thank them all. »
