Integrated sciences are taught in the first three years of secondary. They incorporate chemistry, physics and biology. It is an opportunity to deal with natural phenomena, discussing issues related to each of these disciplines, while preparing the children for more advanced classes in these subjects in years 4 and 5.
In the activities scheduled in integrated sciences, pupils are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the equipment commonly use in science and with the safety recommendations. The teacher will ask them to follow protocols but also to come up with and design their own procedures to test their theories. In the course of these practical activities, they will learn to work in teams and then report on their work by drafting papers on experiments.
After three years, the children will have acquired the basic knowledge and techniques and the reasoning that will enable them to take classes in science in subsequent years.
