INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT EUROPE COMPETITION CAMPULUNG-MUSCEL, ROMANIA

A group of highly motivated S5, S6 and S7 students were selected by Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Schmitt to participate in the international competition denominated ‘Moot Court Europe 2026’, organized by the Foundation Netherlands-Romania within the premises of the National Pedagogical College Carol I and the Municipal Tribunal of Campulung-Muscel, Romania.
The students participated as the Prosecution and Defence teams of a particular war crimes case developed by the Justice Resource Center in New York, The Prosecutor v Admiral Kaspar Selden, and had to present substantial grounds for admissibility to the International Criminal Court (ICC), as well as to defend that the case was inadmissible according to the Elements of Crimes of the Rome Statute.
Our fearless students worked incessantly from day to night, listened closely to the feedback from the judges and their advisors, and made the semi-finals and the final round, out of 24 teams!

During the final round, our Prosecution team faced a professional mooting team, the Zimbabwe National Moot Court Team, and faced tough questions by experts such as Judge Alphons Orie (a former judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, who presided over many Trial Chamber cases at the ICTY), and Jaap W. De Zwaan, emeritus professor of European Union law at Erasmus University Rotterdam

An outstanding accomplishment for our students, who were awarded a meritorious second place.  Well done, Mooties!
